Are you looking for someone who will really listen - without judgement - and help you make sense of what’s going on in your life?

I’m David James — a therapeutic counsellor, therapist, and Rewind Practitioner — and I offer in‑person, online, and telephone support. I work with adults of all genders, and people come to me for support with anxiety, trauma, relationships, and the pressures of everyday life.
Life can feel overwhelming, and it’s not always easy to know where to turn. You might be feeling anxious, low, stuck, or weighed down by past experiences or trauma. You may be dealing with ongoing pressures, or simply trying to understand why things feel so difficult right now.
If you’re looking for a space where you can pause, breathe, and explore what’s happening with someone who genuinely cares, I can help.
I provide a calm, safe, and confidential space where you can reflect at your own pace. Together, we’ll explore the meanings behind your struggles, uncover new perspectives, and gently challenge old patterns. Our work can be serious and reflective, but it can also include moments of humour, relief, and fresh insight — the kind that helps life feel lighter again.
I work with warmth, respect, care, and genuine human connection. My aim is to help you build clarity, resilience, and a more fulfilling way of living.
Specialised Trauma Support with Rewind Therapy
If trauma is part of your story, I also offer Rewind Therapy — a gentle and effective approach for reducing the impact of distressing memories without needing to talk through every detail. This internationally recognised method can ease symptoms such as flashbacks, nightmares, and anxiety, often within just a few sessions.
Rewind Therapy uses relaxation and guided imagery to help your brain “file” traumatic memories so they no longer intrude into daily life. The memories remain, but the emotional charge softens, giving you more control and more peace.

Online Counselling
There are many advantages to online and telephone counselling as distance is no object and it also offers a flexible, accessible way to receive support — from the comfort of your own home, or wherever feels right for you. This can make it easier to fit
Individual Counselling?
Life can be demanding, and at times we all need space to pause, reflect, and make sense of what we’re going through. I offer one-to-one counselling in a safe, confidential, and relaxed environment—somewhere you can speak freely, be heard.
Rewind Therapy
Rewind Therapy offers a gentle, structured way to ease the impact of difficult or distressing memories. You don’t need to go into every detail — just enough to help your mind process what happened so it no longer feels as overwhelming in the present. Many people find

My Approach
I believe that a sense of well-being comes from within, and that therapy can help you connect with that. I work as a relational integrative counsellor, drawing on Person-Centred, Relational Psychodynamic, and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) approaches. This combination allows me to adapt how I work to suit each person I see, responding to your needs, preferences, and pace.
I am particularly interested in how relationships shape our experience of the world — from early influences in your life to the people around you today, and even the unique connection we build together in therapy. I aim to create a safe space where we can explore patterns and experiences in a way that makes sense to you, helping you better understand yourself and your feelings.
In our work together, I encourage looking closely at the assumptions and beliefs you’ve developed over time. Gaining this kind of awareness can help you see which patterns support you and which might be holding you back. From there, we can explore practical strategies to make positive changes in your life and move towards a greater sense of balance and fulfilment.
I like to work flexibly, using different techniques and approaches depending on what feels most helpful for you. My goal is to provide a supportive, respectful, and collaborative space where you feel heard and understood, and where you can feel empowered to make meaningful changes at your own pace.
'The counselling I received was invaluable. David was professional, approachable, he and made me feel truly supported throughout the process'
