Welcome, thank you for stopping by
I’m David James, a therapeutic counsellor based in South Wales. I offer in-person, online, and telephone counselling for adults. My work includes supporting people through a wide range of challenges, with a particular focus on men’s wellbeing and long-term health conditions — though I welcome clients of all genders.
Life can be hard, and at times it may feel overwhelming or impossible to manage. Talking with an experienced counsellor — someone trained to listen without judgement — can help you explore the meanings behind your struggles and support you in moving towards a fuller, more enjoyable life.
You may be feeling anxious, low, or weighed down by past experiences, ongoing health issues, or the pressures of daily life. Or perhaps you’re simply looking for a safe space to pause, reflect, and make sense of things. Counselling provides the opportunity to explore your thoughts and feelings with someone who is not personally involved, critical, or dismissive.
When problems feel irresolvable, therapy can open up new perspectives, bringing greater insight, self-understanding, and the possibility of change. My approach is grounded in warmth, respect, and genuine human connection — creating a space where you can explore at your own pace and build the clarity and resilience you need.

About me
I’m David James, an Accredited Member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society and a Registrered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy. I’m a counsellor and therapist with a background in healthcare
Online Counselling
There are many advantages to online and telephone counselling as distance is no object and it also offers a flexible, accessible way to receive support — from the comfort of your own home, or wherever feels right for you. This can make it easier to fit
Individual Counselling?
Life can be demanding, and at times we all need space to pause, reflect, and make sense of what we’re going through. I offer one-to-one counselling in a safe, confidential, and relaxed environment—somewhere you can speak freely, be heard.
Men's Counselling
I have an interest in supporting men. I understand that many men grow up being told to “keep it together,” to stay strong, and to carry on—often in silence and for some men that makes it harder to reach out when things feel overwhelming or when life starts to take

My Approach
I believe that a sense of well-being comes from within, and that therapy can help you connect with that. I work as a relational integrative counsellor, drawing on Person-Centred, Relational Psychodynamic, and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) approaches. This combination allows me to adapt how I work to suit each person I see, responding to your needs, preferences, and pace.

I am particularly interested in how relationships shape our experience of the world — from early influences in your life to the people around you today, and even the unique connection we build together in therapy. I aim to create a safe space where we can explore patterns and experiences in a way that makes sense to you, helping you better understand yourself and your feelings.
In our work together, I encourage looking closely at the assumptions and beliefs you’ve developed over time. Gaining this kind of awareness can help you see which patterns support you and which might be holding you back. From there, we can explore practical strategies to make positive changes in your life and move towards a greater sense of balance and fulfilment.
I like to work flexibly, using different techniques and approaches depending on what feels most helpful for you. My goal is to provide a supportive, respectful, and collaborative space where you feel heard and understood, and where you can feel empowered to make meaningful changes at your own pace.
'The counselling I received was invaluable. David was professional, approachable, and made me feel truly supported throughout the process'
